department of Clinical Neurophysiology at Jaslok Hospital
is a highly specialized department of electrodiagnostic medicine
with two dedicated Clinical Neurophysiologists Dr
Piroja N. Wadia as Head of the department and Dr
Margi J. Desai as Consultant.
It was the first dedicated department of
its kind to be established in the country and is still one
of the premier departments equipped with state of the art
equipment.
By studying the electrical activity of the
various parts of the central and peripheral nervous system,
of vision and hearing, generated either spontaneously or evoked
as a result of certain external stimulating manoeuvres the
electro diagnostician endeavours to evaluate for the referring
clinician impairment of brain function (EEG) diseases of the
spinal cord ,nerves, muscles or neuromuscular junction (EMG
& NCS) and dysfunction of the organs of vision and hearing
(visual and auditory evoked potentials). |
